Lifescan and Informance to Share Manufacturing Performance Insight with Pharmaceutical Leaders

Interphex Puerto Rico features Lifescan and Informance on OEE as a starting point for understanding inhibitors to manufacturing performance.

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO - Informance International, together with Lifescan Products, LLC, is scheduled to discuss OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) as a starting point to measure operations performance at Interphex Puerto Rico, on Friday, March 5, 2010. For more than two decades, LifeScan, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson company, has been committed to improving the quality of life for people with diabetes. Informance International is a leader in manufacturing business intelligence and enterprise manufacturing intelligence solutions. Interphex offers biopharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing professionals an opportunity to increase understanding of the key issues affecting the life sciences industry.

Hector Rodriguez, MBB Engineering Manager at Lifescan Products, and John Oskin, Executive Vice President of Informance, will use a case study approach to explain why OEE is only a starting point to measure manufacturing performance. They will also cover the results of a recent manufacturing benchmark study, and will explain how benchmarking can aid the performance improvement effort.

"Many manufacturers want to improve capacity, and often they look to OEE as the singular measurement of their efforts," said John Oskin of Informance. "However, those manufacturers who seek to understand the underlying inhibitors to production performance can establish more accurate production rates, and realize even greater gains in productivity. During the dynamic presentation, Rodriguez and Oskin will explain how performance analysis can reveal the sources of process loss from an OEE perspective. They will also show how to apply factors to determine which improvement efforts will have the highest impact on overall performance. Ultimately, the duo will reveal how manufacturers can achieve high impact improvement in areas such as capacity, productivity, manufacturing yield and shipping plan attainment.
