Industrial Production

Lean principles were originally developed in industrial operations as a set of tools and practices that managers and workers could use to eliminate waste and inefficiency from production systems-reducing costs, improving quality and reliability, and speeding up cycle times.

The art of perfecting these techniques now rests with the ability to leverage real-time analytics to improve the organization's performance. The biggest challenges in adopting the lean approach are to know which of its tools to use and how to apply them as well as gathering the necessary data to make the tools effective. Many companies are leveraging real-time operational intelligence to achieve positive results through frequent kaizen events (group problem-solving sessions) that help plant operations personnel to participate more directly.

Operational executives in many industries are adopting lean techniques rapidly, so soon they will no longer be a differentiating factor; the important thing, in the heat of competition, will be how well companies implement them. The next-level of the lean journey is managing beyond the tools and frameworks and more about building the energy and engagement of employees from the shop floor upward, tapping into their ideas, focusing them on constant problem solving, and keeping them open to change, flexibility and performance.

Informance understands the high-levels of preparation, analysis and commitment required by industrial operations when evaluating their business strategies and operational tactics. Informance provides a proven methodology, domain expertise and tools to identify, quantify and capture operational improvement opportunities. Through a collaborative discovery effort with our clients, we offer manufacturers insight through key industry research, operational performance benchmarking and enabling technologies that provide a competitive advantage in today's fierce marketplace.
